The goal of the Promotions Committee is to promote Downtown Mount Joy as the community’s social, cultural, and economic center. This is accomplished through
advertising, retail promotional activity, special events, and marketing campaigns.
Advertising
Main Street Mount Joy coordinates various cooperative marketing opportunities throughout the year. Often the opportunities are scheduled for coverage around Mount Joy's Fourth Friday events. Opportunities cover a variety of marketing medias including, but not limited to, billboards & banners, print ads, internet, and radio.
MSMJ views these opportunities as not only effective marketing opportunities, but also wonderful ways to raise our overall visibility as a destination.
Retail Promotions
Fourth Fridays are always a happening evening in Downtown Mount Joy. Each Fourth Friday is different from the last, but always tons of fun. Fourth Friday events run from 5 PM to 8 PM in Downtown Mount Joy. Make Fourth Fridays your family night, call up your friends and spend time together, or create a date night with your special someone - Dine out, Stroll from place to place, Browse shops, and most of all - Enjoy yourself!
Keep Your Money Home for the Holidays - Kicking off on Black Friday, frequent shopper cards are available to customers as an added incentive for shopping & dining local. For every $20 spent, your card is stamped. The goal is to complete the card with stamps and then return it for a chance to win Mount Joy Money. The contest runs through mid-January.

Marketing Campaign
Through a Main Street Planning Grant through the Commonwealth's Dept. of Community & Economic Development, Main Street Mount Joy was able to extend the Train Station & Downtown Destination Plan to delve deeper into creating a marketing campaign that markets Downtown Mount Joy as a whole. After the consultants, Glatting Jackson, completed many standholder and customer interviews, they helped us determine our greatest strengths in which to center the campaign around. The committee is currently developing the campaign to be launched shortly.
I "heart" MJ Stickers - They are showing up all over the place. Show your community spirit by picking one up and displaying it your car. They are free and available at the MSMJ office, Borough office, and downtown stores & restaurants.
Lancaster County Downtown Consortium
Main Street Mount Joy is a proud participant of the LCDC since its inception in February 2006. The group has been beneficial in numerous ways, from the sharing of information and ideas to increasing our effectiveness in promoting our downtown centers as a whole, and more. As the saying goes, our voices are much louder and effective together than individually. The more attractive downtowns are in general, the more attractive Downtown Mount Joy will be. Together we can also offer an even greater, longer experience for visitors in Lancaster County. The group is working to create itineraries that would identify linkages between our communities giving visitors greater perspective on the attractions that the downtowns of Lancaster County offer.
